Children and adolescents

A good time to introduce yourself to the orthodontist for the first time is usually the beginning of school time. As a rule, the first large molars break through and the front teeth change.

However, if your child shows noticeable teeth irregularities earlier, such as breathing with an open mouth, difficulty speaking or chewing, an earlier visit from the age of 4 may also be advisable.

Even in the case of premature loss of milk teeth, e.B. due to trauma or caries, an early visit to the orthodontist is also useful.

Timely, early treatment with removable braces can benefit your child's growth or affect unfavorable growth.

In this way, more extensive therapies can often be avoided or simplified at a later date.

We treat children with cleft lip and palate and/or craniofacial malformations (Patients with cleft lip and palate) together with the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Even newborns can be pre-treated with drinking plates to facilitate nutrition and to simplify subsequent operations by supporting the muscles. (Leipzig Concept).

At the first appointment, we carry out a short intraoral examination and advise you on suitable therapies and the best possible start of treatment for your child.
