When treated with fixed braces, so-called brackets (small brackets for the wires) are attached adhesively to the teeth. The wires are fixed to these in order to be able to carry out the desired tooth movement. In the case of pronounced malocclusions, fixed braces are the therapeutic means of choice. Treatment with brackets can basically be carried out at any age. Brackets are available in different sizes and also made of ceramic (tooth-colored), depending on the patient's wishes.
