After the digital impression (scan of the jaws), the 3D data set can be printed as a model using a 3D printer. On these printed models, as well as on conventional plaster models, braces and retention plates can then be produced. Transparent tooth splints can be designed on the computer without the intermediate step of model printing and then be printed using a 3D printer. Minor rework can then be done manually.
