After the intraoral scan of the dentition situation, the data can be transferred to an orthodontic planning program. Conventional models can also be scanned with a model scanner and this data can also be digitally evaluated afterwards. Possible treatment steps and treatment results can thus be simulated and examined together with the patient. The visualization of the improved tooth and/or jaw position simplifies the communication between patient and practitioner and acts as a motivational boost. It is used in particular in the treatment with transparent dental splints (Invisalign).
