The Data Integration Center (DIZ) of University of Leipzig Medical Center (UKL) compiles medical care data collected and processed during treatment at UKL and makes this data available for medical research. It also integrates research findings back into patient care.
The DIZ provides data protection-compliant services for data management and data use, which can be used by scientists both inside and outside of UKL.
The establishment and ongoing development of the DIZ are carried out within the framework of the German Federal Government's Medical Informatics Initiative (MII). The goal of this infrastructure is to make data from routine care usable for medical research.
Three departments under one roof
The Data Integration Center, together with the departments Medical Data Science (MDS) and Medical AI and Translation (MedKIT) forms the Medical Informatics Center (MIZ) of University of Leipzig Medical Center (UKL).
This shared structure reflects the close thematic links and infrastructural and scientific components of medical informatics at UKL and the University Medicine. We also collaborate with other groups within the Leipzig University Medicine (UML). The goal is to leverage the vast potential of research opportunities and improve patient care through innovative IT infrastructure in the field of medical informatics.
