  • Structured familiarisation concept for new employees
    The first day at the University of Leipzig Medical Center begins with an introductory event (EVA) for all new employees. Familiarisation with the new area of work and tasks is supervised by an experienced colleague, using specific orientation documents for a good start and integration into the new team. This means that starting at UKL is made especially easy for you.
  • Management development
    For our managers and those striving to become them we offer specific seminars which, in addition to internal information, cover the development of personality and competences together with networking. 
  • Employer-funded training and further training 
    Quality through qualification – this is the motto of the University of Leipzig Medical Center when it comes to facilitating educational measures for personnel development. Our in-house educational programme comprises over 750 events per year, held either online or in our education centre. All events are adapted continuously to meet the requirements of modern hospital life. The individual development needs of our employees and their future career plans are in focus at all times.

  • Annual employee appraisal
    The annual employee appraisal with management serves the purpose of mutual interaction and ensures greater openness and transparency. Vocational training and further training requirements are discussed during this conversation. 
  • Employee survey
    A regular survey of all employees aims to identify the level of satisfaction of personnel, reveal grievances and initiate projects for improvement.

  • Professional assistance in dealing with professional or private crisis situations
    Our employees can turn to our external partner for professional assistance regarding professional or private crisis situations, around the clock, seven days a week.
  • Coaching
    Our individual coaching offers give our employees the opportunity to look at subjects and issues with the aid of professional support and to develop solutions to these.
  • Advice on pensions
    Our internal advice centre not only provides advice on employer-funded benefits, it is also a general contact for the subject of occupational pensions.
  • Social and family care advice
    Our employees can turn to this internal office for advice and support concerning family, economic, procedural or health-related issues. Working together, new perspectives and approaches are developed.

    The University of Leipzig Medical Center supports its employees (as per its in-house wage agreement) with an employer contribution to old-age pensions.
  • Award-winning occupational healthcare management
    The free occupational healthcare management options range from Active Exercise Breaks to Healthy Backs. The aim of these is to safeguard and promote the health of our employees. It is possible to undertake these together as a team or integrate them individually into the working day. Our employees are entitled to 180 minutes of occupational healthcare offers each year during working hours. Our occupational healthcare management has been recognised with the Corporate Health Award.

        • Child day-care facilities near the workplace
          The hospital campus includes two child day-care centres with a total of 263 places, designated exclusively for the children of employees of the University of Leipzig Medical Center or the Medical Faculty.
        • Child day-care
          In addition to the two child day-care centres the UKL also works with two day-care providers that offer all-day care in the vicinity of the hospital to employee children aged between one and three.
      • Holidays programme
        MEFALE is a holidays programme organised by the equal opportunities office for children of university medical employees. In addition to fun and games, during one week of the holidays children can also get to know the workplace of their parents.
    • Holiday camp for employee children
      The children of our employees can spend exciting and diverse holidays at one of five holiday camps in Saxony. The UKL will cover a maximum of 80 percent of the cost for one week of holiday enjoyment.
  • Flying Nanny
    If there is a need for care at short notice, for example, because an operation is taking longer than planned, the day-care provider is ill or there is an important work appointment in the evening, then our Flying Nanny will step in to provide childcare that is flexible regarding place and time.
  • Bring your Child to Work Day
    The first UKL 'Bring your Child to Work Day' is planned for 2020. Our employees can bring their children to work with them on a work day that follows a public holiday. Here they will be cared for, get to know the hospital and have lots of fun playing and making things.

        In addition to remuneration in accordance with the in-house wage agreement, our employees also receive a one-off annual payment as well as holiday money. We will also reward your work and your loyalty to University of Leipzig Medical Center with a share of the annual positive operating profit.

      The bouquet of the month is awarded regularly to employees of the UKL and is a regular category in the UKL healthcare magazine "Liebigstraße aktuell" and our internal newsletter "Newsmail".       Employees of the University of Leipzig Medical Center can make use of the diverse courses and offers of the University of Leipzig sports centre at reduced prices.

      The UKL physiotherapists support employees in the prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system through kinesiology taping without the need for appointments or waiting times.
  • Diverse range of courses such as yoga, Pilates etc.
    Our occupational health management provides a range of free courses and offers to maintain health. Our employees are entitled to exercise for 180 minutes during their working time.   
  • Firmenlauf
    On your marks, get set, go: Each year the UKL has several hundred entrants at the start of the Leipziger Firmenlauf corporate run. Over the years we have subsequently won the title of "sportiest company" several times.

      Every day our employees can choose from various menus (including vegan or vegetarian) at a price subsidised by the University of Leipzig Medical Center. To the menus (only in German)

      Our employees can enjoy reduced prices at the pharmacy and in the neighbouring car park.

    • Newsmail
      University of Leipzig Medical Center employees are always up to date with the Newsmail, which provides a monthly overview of developments on the medical campus. A compact presentation of the latest board decisions, projects, important individuals or events.
    • Liebigstraße aktuell
      The UKL healthcare magazine "Liebigstraße aktuell" is primarily aimed at our patients and visitors, but employees also like to read each issue to see what has been happening at UKL in recent weeks or will be happening in the near future. "Liebigstraße aktuell" is published every three weeks and is available from the UKL itself or numerous doctors' surgeries in the area.
  • Internal information events
    Information events for particular events and topics are offered to all UKL employees – from major construction projects to IT security issues and on to new legislation and how they affect day-to-day working life.
  • Website
    One website for everyone: At www.uniklinikum-leipzig.de not only can patients and visitors find information about the UKL, employees and prospective employees can also find detailed information about all establishments such as clinics and institutes.
  • Intranet
    The intranet provides employees with all important news at a glance. In addition, organisational charts, access to the webshop and ordering systems, a telephone directory and much more can be found here.

  • Annual employee festival
    In late summer the University of Leipzig Medical Center invites all of its employees to a lavish festival with music and dance, a diverse programme and food and drinks.
  • Children's festival
    Play, crafts, bouncy castle … the annual UKL children's festival in the Klinikpark is great fun for the children of employees, young patients and their parents.
  • Christmas carols
    In December our employees are invited to a Christmas carol session together. The event is supported by children from the forum thomanum primary school, which also trains prospective members of the famous Thomanerchor choir.
