Core Unit Electron Microscopy

EM


The Core Unit for electron microscopy is equipped with a Zeiss EM900 for conventional transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and further with a Zeiss SIGMA scanning electron microscope (SEM). The latter not only allows processing of SEM samples, but also standard TEM samples with a STEM detector and ATLAS software at a resolution of up to 1.024 Giga Pixels. Application of diaminobenzidine-based immunolabeling ensures clear-cut detection of cells at the level of light microscopy to pre-select areas of interest for further ultrastructural analysis.
